Tampa Bay Florida: One of the best places on earth

Florida is home to pristine beaches and beautiful weather year round sprinkled with theme parks for families and nightlife for the hip crowds. Florida is the destination for snowbirds, people who head south for the winter to escape the cold, and families heading south for a summer vacation getaway. Whatever it may be, Florida is the place to be. Of the many Florida destinations one must not forget the lively metropolis of Tampa Bay.

Home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the exhilarating Busch Gardens Amusement Park, there is much to do in Tampa Bay. But what if you want to take in Tampa by going beyond the tourism industry and heading deeper into the local scene to see just what makes this city tick. For the heartbeat and central life of the Pinellas and Tampa Bay area you need look no further than these local events held yearly and all year round in the city of sun and fun.

Hanging around in late January? Check out the Gasparilla Pirate festival celebrating the golden age of piracy in Tampa where the city celebrates the pirate Jose Gaspar who operated in Southwest Florida. This massive event celebrated yearly since 1904 is the Marti Gras of Tampa where Pirates fire off blanks from their pistols while throwing beads and coins in the "invasion" parade. Makes one wonder where they got the name for the NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers huh?

Too much piracy for you? Like a more civil period with knights of chivalry with kings and queens. February through April brings about the Bay Area Renaissance Festival where you can feast like kings and watch knights joust for the fair maiden’s hand. Where else can you witness fireworks throughout the year that is not limited to the Fourth of July or New Years Eve? Tampa Bay, of course! Head down to watch a fireworks display on Memorial Day and if that is not enough, try Labor Day too.

Halloween is no different than any other place in the United States, but Tampa adds spice and flare by hosting its annual Guavaween Festival that provides something for all ages. This Tampa event offers safe trick or treating for children of all ages, and nightlife just perfect for the adults. Along with its pristine beaches, Tampa Bay should be ripe with great seafood right? Look no further than the Ruskin Seafood and Arts Festival, the love of the sea and the Arts of Tampa Bay, Florida comes together. Speaking of the sea, stick around in December where the city hosts the unique Lighted Holiday Boat Parade celebrating the year end holidays.

Tampa Bay is a Mecca of activities that occur year round. Whether a year round resident or a returning visitor, there is something for everyone. From tourist attractions like Adventure Island to the cultural events like the Gasparilla Festival for the Arts, Tampa Bay has a charm all its own.
